2007 PROM Workshop Hotel Information:

I have arranged to hold a block of hotel rooms at the University of California's Faculty Club,
which offers affordable lodging on the Berkeley campus. The H-line ("Hill shuttle") bus runs
between campus and the  Space Sciences Lab, where we will meet, every half-hour.

Currently, our group has 18 rooms available checking in on Sunday, October 28, and out on
Thursday, November 01. Check-in and check-out dates can be adjusted +/- one day for each
room. The rooms are being held under "PROM Workshop."

I ask workshop attendees from the U.S. to please reserve rooms for themselves (and guests,
if any).

Foreign attendees are welcome to make reservations themselves, but I am willing to make
arrangements on their behalf. If you want me to make reservations on your behalf, please
contact me  with your desired check-in and check-out dates as soon as you know them.

Contact information and room descriptions are on the Club's website,
http://www.berkeleyfacultyclub.com/hotel/

When making arrangements to hold the room block, I dealt with Janet. But she implied any
desk clerk would be able to handle a reservation, or connect you to her.

Reservations need not be made until approximately three weeks prior to our meeting (i.e., in
early October), after which unreserved rooms must be released.

There are, however, two reasons why you might want to make reservations sooner rather
than later! First, only 12 of these rooms have a private bath; the other six are "dormitory
style," with shared baths. (The latter rooms are cheaper, though!) Second, because a football
game is scheduled for Saturday, November 03, only three rooms can be reserved through
the weekend, should any PROM members wish to remain in Berkeley after the PROM
meeting.

(If the 12 rooms with private baths are gone by the time you want to make a reservation,
other options with private baths are available: the Faculty Club also has two more expensive
rooms with private baths [one of which is a large suite], and other [albeit more expensive]
lodging options [hotels and B & Bs] also exist near campus.)

Please contact me (welsch@ssl.berkeley.edu) if you have any additional questions.

Brian Welsch
