PROM Workshop 2005 - Oct 27-29
ABOUT PROM WORKSHOPS

PROM is the acronym for Prominence Research Observations and Models.  The Workshops were initiated among a group
of remote collaborators working on research grants funded related to successful proposals submitted through Helio
Research.  Therefore the purpose of the Workshops has been a forum for discussions among the collaborators on their
research on prominences (filaments) and filament channels and other aspects of the prominence (filament) environment.
Especially important has been the interaction between observers and modelers.   The Workshops have always been
locally open and announced to others in solar physics engaged in similar research in the locality where the Workshop is
held.   Research presentations are informally shared in depth with time for discussion of details and work in progress.
Hence there is also no attempt to cover the entire subject of prominences and filament research at the sacrifice of these
in-depth discussions.   Our goal is to maximize research discussion time and to minimize organizational effort.   Broader,
more comprehensive forums for research presentations are already available through meetings of our professional
societies.

Volunteer hosts for future local Workshops are welcome.
