The location of PROM Workshop 2005 is at the High Altitude Observatory (HAO) marked on
the Boulder city map as "NCAR/UCAR/UOP Location". A list of hotels and motels can be seen
by scrolling down from the map.
The closest two hotels within a reasonable walking distance are the Residence Inn Marriott
(~0.1 Mi ) and the Courtyard Marriott (~1 Mi). The least expensive single rooms (for
reservations via the internet) respectively are at the Best Western Golden Buff Lodge, the
Boulder Outlook (800 28th Street), and the Holiday Inn Express but a car is required except at
the Golden Buff which is across the street from a shopping center where the NCAR shuttle can
stops about once an hour. Hotels/motels in the sidebar gives more maps and other detailed
info about each accommodation.
A blocks of 10 rooms each has been reserved at the Residence Inn and the Golden Buff
Lodge. The government rate can be obtained by identifying yourself as a participant in the
PROM Workshop and mentioning Sarah Gibson's name as the local organizerWe have
reserved blocks of rooms for the nights October 26, 27, and 28 at NCAR rates at two local
hotels. To make reservations at either, call the numbers listed below and mention the PROM
meeting (the Residence Inn have it under a three-letter code "PRO"). You may
need to mention Sarah Gibson's name as NCAR contact.
1) Residence Inn: $109 (800-331-3131;

***ROOMS MUST BE RESERVED BY SEPT 26.
This hotel is next door to NCAR Center Green campus, where HAO is
(building CG1) and where the meeting will be. This location is good
for getting to the meeting, but not great for getting to downtown
Boulder -- this is pretty much the businessy part of town -- nice trees
and office buildings everywhere -- but not much in the way of shops,
restaurants, etc. Note, however, that there is a good
brewpub/restaurant (the old Boulder Brewery) within 5 minutes walking
distance of the hotel (at HAO it is affectionately known as CG4), and
an excellent Espresso place (Vic's -- about 10-15 minutes walk). Also,
our contact at the hotel pointed out that cab fare downtown is 5-6
dollars, which when split 2-3 ways is fairly trivial. This is a nice
hotel with fully equipped suites -- the price includes breakfast and
for Mon-Thurs nights between 5 and 7 pm a "social hour" which includes
beer, wine, and snacks -- on Wednesday night is is a full buffet
dinner.
2) Golden Buff: $59 (303 442 7450;

propertyCode=06004)
***ROOMS MUST BE RESERVED BY OCTOBER 3.
This hotel is right across from the old "Crossroads Mall" which is now
_heavily_ under construction. It is a 5-10 minute drive to HAO and the
meeting. The NCAR shuttle
(http://www.fin.ucar.edu/sass/transport/shuttle-cg.html) stops right
across the street at the World Bank parking lot, however, and the hotel
management knows about this and can direct you to where the shuttle
picks up. It is about halfway between HAO and downtown Boulder, and a
brisk 20 minute walk to downtown. However, the walk (and the hotel
itself) are not in the most scenic part of Boulder-- pretty much the
strip mall part of town. But after 5-10 minutes walk you are out of
that and walking down Pearl Street, which is a Boulder highlight.
